lo scopo di questa norma è lo sviluppo di un sistema di gestione aziendale che preveda il miglioramento continuo, mettendo l'accento sulla prevenzione e sulla riduzione dei difetti nella catena di fornitura.
Vista l'importanza delle attività di progettazione nel settore Ferroviario, sono stati introdotti requisiti speciali per la gest ione dei  progetti.
Specifica i requisiti di un sistema di gestione aziendale per la progettazione, lo sviluppo, la produzione e dove applicabile, l'installazione e l'assistenza clienti per i prodotti collegati al materiale rotabile ed al segnalamento.
